The Basic Traits Inventory was developed based on the five-factor model of personality, which measures personality in terms of five broad domains, commonly known as: Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness to Experience, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness. The BTI can also provide competency scores for specific jobs or roles based on the personality scales. It is easy to use, easy to understand developed with the South African context in mind and has been demonstrated to work effectively across cultures and language groups.
ASSESSMENT SCALES
The BTI includes the following scales:
Openness to Experience: Aesthetics, Ideas, Actions, Values, and Imagination
Conscientiousness: Effort, Order, Prudence, Self-Discipline, and Dutifulness
Extraversion: Ascendance, Gregariousness, Excitement-Seeking, Liveliness, and Positive Affectivity
Agreeableness: Straightforwardness, Compliance, Tendermindedness, Prosocial Tendencies, and Modesty
Neuroticism: Depression, Anxiety, Affective Instability, and Self-Consciousness
